One of our clients, a leading global textile company, is looking for a Director of Sportswear to lead, manage and generate the sales of the company within Nike. The company has established itself as the epitome of fabric design, innovation and manufacturing and has become a global leader in engineered apparel.
Position- general
This is a remarkable opportunity to represent a growing international company in its operation in the US. The candidate will be based in Nike Portland, the company's strategic customer in the US. The candidate will be a liaison between the company's vision and its strategic partner.
Challenges
1. Generate sales growth- develop profit growth through identification of new lines, products and opportunities.
2. Preserve and evolve the professional connections with leading functions in Nike.
Responsibilities
1. Maximize sales of all existing and new sports products.
2. Lead the development of new products from product concept through execution.
3. Lead the direct professional and business relationship with Nike's executives.
4. Responsible for all administrative, finance, legal, logistics and operational aspects in coordination to Headquarters.
5. Organize and lead multi-departmental work teams (marketing, sales, design, R&D) to design and execute new products. Direct management of 5 employees.
6. Act as interface, the front and top representative of the company's vision and objectives within Nike.
7. Identify and stay current on product trend changes and opportunities.
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business Administration or Marketing. MBA is preferred.
* At least 7 years of progressive sales/marketing/product management/merchandizing experience in the apparel industry; sports apparel is a plus.
* Experience in building a private label business- a plus.
* Full understanding of product life cycles within the apparel industry.
* Experience in leading and working with international teams.
* Strong project management skills.
* Proven ability of working with management and high profile executives.
* The role requires a proven history of success in a target driven, customer focused sales operation.
