| The Compost Facilitator Volunteer is responsible for overseeing the compost bins in OMSI s café. OMSI is collaborating with the Portland Compost Program to compost the majority of the waste produced in our café. The Compost Facilitator will monitor the composting station and educate visitors on how to divide their food and packaging items for the composting, recycling, and waste receptacles. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist OMSI s composting program by answering questions and providing assistance for visitors in the café. Provide excellent customer service. Keep informed about how to properly use the composting, recycling, and waste receptacles. Report any problems and unusual occurrences that arise to OMSI staff. Be available from 11:00 2:00 QUALIFICATIONS: A passion for sustainable business practices. A positive, enthusiastic attitude and an outgoing personality. Great communication and customer service skills. The ability to demonstrate diplomacy, patience and respect at all times with people of all different ages and backgrounds. Self-direction and the ability to work independently. Able to work in a sometimes crowded, noisy, and chaotic environment. Able to walk and stand for extended periods.
